Heading Home
Tomorrow morning Karley and I start the journey home. It is still hard to believe it has been six weeks since we left New Orleans. Harder still to comprehend what has transpired during those six weeks. We hear that life is starting to return to the city. We also hear “brace yourself.” Soon the not knowing will be over. Whether knowing turns out to be an improvement remains to be seen.
For certain sometimes the not knowing is better than the knowing! While most of the “pretty parts” of the city remain untouched, there’s a deepseeded anxiety about what will happen. And quite frankly, most of us feel a little weary about the future. But we need kids like you and Karly, so we’ll certainly welcome you both back to the city–although some of us are doing it from a lake away. Hope the road traveled isn’t too long and hard, but then again, you all should be good and tough enough by now!
Good luck , my man. Hope we can go out for a drink and a laugh some day soon.
